B2B teams are waking up to a new reality: if your brand doesn’t show up inside AI answers, you’re invisible before a buyer ever clicks a link.

The problem? Most GEO tools either show partial data or require someone who speaks fluent β€œprompt engineering” to interpret what’s happening.

We sat down with Malte Landwehr, Chief Product and Marketing Officer at Peec AI, to walk through their platform. What stood out wasn’t just what they track; it’s how practical it is. Peec AI isn’t a data science experiment. It’s built for marketing teams who need answers and next steps.

Here’s what B2B marketers need to know about the product.

TL;DR

  • Tracks brand visibility across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini, and more
  • Uses UI scraping to mirror what real users actually see
  • Suggests topics and prompts based on your brand instead of starting from scratch
  • Maps prompt citation sources so you know which URLs influence AI answers
  • Gap analysis shows where competitors appear but you don’t
  • β€œActions” feature generates concrete next steps
  • Daily tracking with weekly/monthly rollups to reduce noise
  • Persona and funnel-stage tagging to analyze buyer journey visibility

Setup is largely done by the Peec AI team. Most marketing departments can use this tool and assign an owner in a performance or demand generation team.

Which AI Tools Does Peec Track?

Peec AI currently tracks:

  • ChatGPT
  • Google AI Overviews
  • Perplexity
  • Gemini
  • AI Mode
  • Microsoft Copilot

If you can only track one, Malte recommends ChatGPT. However, Malte recommends that teams pay close attention to AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Gemini. Perplexity has cooled recently. Although Microsoft Copilot has a small market share, it is especially relevant in B2B due to Microsoft ecosystem integration.

Why this matters: Different personas use different tools. Engineers might lean toward Copilot or Claude. Marketers often default to ChatGPT. If you’re only monitoring one platform, you’re not seeing the full discovery picture.

Does Peec AI Use API or UI Scraping for Prompt Research?

Peec AI uses UI scraping.

That means the system simulates a real user: opening the browser, typing the prompt, and capturing exactly what appears on screen.

They intentionally avoid API-based tracking because API responses often differ from what users actually see in the interface. However, if a client insists, they do support API tracking with some LLMs.

Why this matters: If your prospects see citations, shopping sliders, or formatting differences in the UI, that’s what counts. API data doesn’t always reflect that reality.

Geographic Targeting Options for Global Businesses

Yes. Geography can be set down to the prompt level.

Results vary dramatically by region. Even within the same language, answers can shift significantly. A Spanish-language prompt in the U.S. can produce completely different results than the same prompt in Spain.

For global B2B brands, this is critical. Strong U.S. visibility doesn’t mean you show up in EMEA.

How Peec AI’s Prompt Research Works

Peec handles prompt generation for you.

Here’s the process:

  1. The platform analyzes your website and brand positioning
  2. The Peec AI team suggests relevant topics
  3. The system also generates multiple prompts for each topic
  4. You approve, reject, or request more

You can also:

  • Add prompts manually
  • Upload bulk prompts via CSV (common for teams tracking 500–1,000+ prompts)
  • Create custom topics

The key takeaway: you don’t need to become a prompt engineer. Peec does the heavy lifting. Your job is validating strategy, not inventing queries from scratch.

How Peec AI Measures Prompt Demand

Unlike traditional SEO tools, Peec doesn’t pretend prompts behave like keywords.

AI prompts are highly unique. Based on anonymized panel data, most real prompts are one-of-a-kind. Absolute volume numbers are often misleading.

Instead, Peec uses a 1–5 relative demand scale. It analyzes subtopics within prompts, checks their co-occurrence in real datasets, blends in search volume signals, and produces a directional demand score.

This avoids false precision while still giving you prioritization guidance.

And just like SEO, long-tail prompts with lower β€œvolume” can still convert extremely well.

Generative Engine Competitor Tracking

Peec tracks your brand alongside competitors you define.

You can see:

  • Visibility trends over time
  • Average position in responses
  • Sentiment
  • Brand mention frequency
  • Chat-level ranking order

If competitors consistently appear ahead of you, you’re losing attention before buyers ever reach your site.

This gives you proof of displacement, and a roadmap for closing the gap.

Citation Tracking & Gap Analysis (Where It Gets Tactical)

This is where Peec becomes actionable.

The platform shows:

  • Top domains cited in AI answers
  • Top individual URLs
  • Whether your brand appears in those sources
  • Which competitors appear there
  • Source classification (editorial, UGC, listicles, corporate, etc.)

Then comes the powerful part: gap filtering.

You can filter for URLs where:

  • Your brand is not mentioned
  • Multiple competitors are

That becomes your priority list.

Examples:

  • Listicles β†’ pitch for inclusion
  • Editorial sites β†’ PR outreach
  • Reddit β†’ engage in relevant subreddits
  • YouTube β†’ explore creator partnerships

Instead of guessing where to focus, you see exactly which sources influence AI answers.

Peec AI’s β€œActions” Feature (Beta)

Peec’s Actions feature takes this a step further.

Based on your data, it generates specific recommendations, such as:

  • Participate in a particular subreddit
  • Get featured in a frequently cited publication
  • Create content inspired by a highly cited YouTube video
  • Target a specific listicle where competitors appear

You can add items to your to-do list and track completion.

It’s built for marketers who need direction β€” not just dashboards.

Examples of How B2B Teams Should Use β€œActions”

Malte emphasized that activating generative engine optimization depends on role.

Influencer marketing
Don’t just chase big names. Smaller YouTube creators often drive disproportionate AI citations. Let the data drive which influencers you chase.

Digital PR
Prioritize publications that appear repeatedly in citations, even if they’re not the largest brands.

Community & social
Engage in subreddits and LinkedIn newsletters that show up in AI answers.

Content strategy
If competitors consistently appear for a topic like β€œaccrued payroll calculation,” that’s a signal.

Wikipedia
Proceed carefully β€” but if there’s legitimate opportunity, it can influence visibility.

This isn’t traditional SEO. Citation influence doesn’t always correlate with domain authority. Niche communities and mid-tier publications can matter a lot.

What Makes Peec AI Different?

According to Malte:

  • Accuracy prioritized over feature sprawl
  • Clean, usable interface
  • Daily tracking with aggregation options
  • Persona tagging
  • Funnel-stage tagging
  • Actionable recommendations

One standout capability is persona segmentation. The brands surfaced for β€œtop headphones for fitness enthusiasts” differ from β€œtop headphones for gamers.” Same category. Different persona.

Similarly, funnel-stage tagging shows whether you only win branded queries or also appear in solution-aware and problem-aware prompts.

That’s a strategic visibility view most tools don’t offer.

They’re also developing brand perception analysis to identify disconnects between attributes LLMs associate with your brand and whether you actually appear for those attribute-based searches.

Peec AI’s Pricing Levers

Pricing is based on the number of chats created or prompts tracked multiplied by LLMs monitored. Packages are pre-configured but flexible.

Bottom Line for B2B Marketers

Peec isn’t just a mention tracker.

It helps you:

  • Understand where your brand appears in AI
  • See which sources influence those answers
  • Identify competitor gaps
  • Prioritize outreach and content
  • Tie visibility to persona and funnel stage
  • Get concrete next steps
